Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yeah, there was another one that I didn't get a close enough look at, maybe it was flirting 😀.

A run up to a nearby loch that I haven't previously visited and there was an old chap with a camera. Still deep snow so I was asking if the path round loch was passable. As it was misty I don't think he was getting a pic of anything, so we chatted. Ospreys. Apparently 2 pairs thought to be nesting in the area and he was hoping to be first to get a pic. He'll need clearer visibility, but what a fab spot that would be. About 5 miles from my house. I shall run up there more often! :-) G

Nice one HG :)

I saw a report of an early migrating (North) osprey over the weekend but can’t remember where the report (or bird) was muppet

Wriggling Snake
Walking about on the tops of Edale yesterday, heard three separate Curlews and a grouse, really funny call that I cannot place, a bit like a comedy cartoon uncoliing spring?

Coal Tit in the garden this morning, usually see one earlier, phew!

I’m in the Premier Inn in Ripley not a million miles from Denby, home of the famous pottery. There’s a little wooded walk I can do first thing tomorrow. Looks good for chiffchaff ;)

Good luck DT, I'm hoping to see a wheatear soon, another one you taught me to spot, the first ones generally turn up around now.

Wriggling Snake, if it wasn't a snipe drumming, it could have been a displaying lapwing? But my money is on the snipe from your description.

Wheatears never seem to turn up round here until after the Highland Fling, right at the end of April).

A whooping wow to all those Whoopers Heinzster! Wotta herd!
Snipe display is "Roding" and quite a sound to hear though I've not heard it for many years down here.
First migrant Meadow Pipit moving back through my local patch this morning but otherwise very dull compared with all the sitings above.
