Out watching the Spine Challenger today but managed a quick diversion up to Howden Reservoir and was rewarded with lots of Crossbills (25+) and great views of a dozen Parrot Crossbills 😀

Envious of your Willow Tit flyingfinn!
Stonechats breed within four hundred metres of where I live on the fringes of a fairly big city (Cardiff).
Coal Tit singing in the garden this morning (a bit like "teacher" too). Song Thrush present daily in the garden --which is unusual given that I'm lucky to only see one in the garden about once every three months!
Blackbirds singing.

Murmurations on my walk this afternoon. Thought I'd see lots of stonechats but they were obviously cowering away from the biting wind.

Steve, I'm falling over Willow Tits at the moment, they seem to be everywhere at the Res. Very active at all the feeding points.

There's a Stonechat (or two) on our local reserve, always been seen in the same bushy strip and nowhere else.... We're going adventuring on Tuesday if the weather is ok, I'm still hoping for a Bittern....

Dave's had his trail cam set up and we've got some new (homemade) feeders up in places we know the birds feel safer since next door got a bloody cat :-(

Really pleased to see a reasonable variety of birds (although just common garden birds) appearing on it as they get more used to the feeder and camera. The robins have spent a lot of time being filmed just staring at the camera! less pleased to see a cat's backside on the last clip yesterday.

However, I think we had a female/juvenile blackcap on the tree in the alleyway the other day, definite chestnut head cap, correct beak, greyish body..... Any other thoughts of what it could be? I had a good look through my bird book and couldn't see anything else...
