Majorca flanker. Saw several more on today's run - huge birds. I thought genuinely that one was a hang glider

Bullfinches sure must make us Run Happy! Have to be the best looking British Bird..Goldfinches a close second for me. Betcha going to add some goodies to your list Derby..Black Vulture must be amazing to see. Blackcap every morning in my garden singing its head off.

That's a can of worms Steve! Today I'd put both Kingfisher & Nuthatch above Bullfinch as best looking bird ... and tomorrow probably something different!

Bullfinches are gorgeous but so are kingfishers. I'm hoping that this year I will break my kingfisher duck (did you see what I did there ;-)) as I've never seen one IRL :-(. However OH saw one last summer when walking the dog along the River Sid in Devon, and I'm sure they're about on the River Otter too, so I shall keep my eyes peeled.

Love to run along my regular riverside/woodland/marsh route this time of year, listening out for the warblers arriving back. Chiffchaffs have been here a little while (heard my first of the year on March 15). Blackcaps singing away last few days. Expecting willow warblers v.soon, and whitethroats probably not far off. Sedge and reed warblers maybe a couple of weeks away? Can't recall quite when they arrived last year.
It's a real marker of the seasons for me, I love it.

My kind of running J2R. Willow Warblers pretty well distributed around my route here in west Cardiff. Whitethroats as you say...soon! (unless there's a population "crash" as there was in the 1960's..one year on my regular patch there were twenty odd Whitethroats and the next year ....none!) Sedge soon too but Reed towards the end of the month I think. Ohh..I forgot about Kingfisher when I said about best plumaged bird..I suppose Jays are quite good too.
