I see. Well, it's nearly impossible to park there without going into the yard, Mr E has put a lot of stones down the sides of the verge.

No problem with paying. Do you need cash?

Parked at the farm for £3. Scafell Pike by the Corridor Route, nipped up Great End on the way down. Knackered now only my second hill walk this year😂
Good day out even if the weather was mixed.

We'll be staying in Stonethwaite for 3 nights in August, giving us 2 full walking days. Any recommendations on an 'easy' route up Eagle Crag/Sergeant's Crag?
By easy I mean little or no scrambling (I'll have a dog on a lead, so won't be able to use both hands) and also my wife doesn't like narrow paths that drop away at the side(s). She's OK with heights, just not narrow paths to get there.
May also aim for Great Gable (and neighbours) from Seathwaite for our second day's walking.

Mmm, that's a bit tricky. Directly from Stonethwaite it's a straightforward climb to the top of Eagle Crag, but it is undoubtedly steep and has couple of rocky steps. They're easy, but it might be a bit too much from what you've described. Perhaps it might be easier to go to Sergent's first: trek up Langstrath a bit and then double back before Stake Pass, before going on to Sergent's and along the ridge to Eagle Crag. Obv. you would then just go back the same way, perhaps adding High Raise and/or Ullscarf. My little map below shows a direct ascent line to Eagle Crag if you fancy it.

Thanks NE - I suspect the long way round might be preferable for my wife. Presumably follow Cumbria Way, then double back at FB over Stake Beck? Head for Brown Crag, then N over Bull Crag? Or is that a bit boggy? We've done High Raise, but not Ullscarf, so that's an optional extra.
No updates from here, but hopefully that will all change in August

We have a week in September specifically booked to get the total up a bit, however I’m now having knee surgery in August, so who knows?
