Mmm. Same day as the Calderdale Relays. That's a bit unfortunate. Still, I suppose the Lakes clubs don't really turn out for the relays, more of a Yorkshire thing.
The Calderdale Relay lost its position in the calendar when it moved from it's pre Xmas date. It had a clear date in the fixture list and in those days it attracted a high calibre turnout from all over the place. Since it moved to the Spring its always been fighting to attract the same level of field. In Dark Peak it went from the club's favourite events with a real fight to get in teams to an event attended by a few diehards and nobody else really paying it any attention.

Good summary ff. From memory a few idiots left a gate or two open and that was that

Didn't know that ff.
Still a high calibre turn out from the locals, CVFR, Tod, etc, but definitely not pulling in the big names from far afield. Not sure if that's good or bad - in some ways having more opportunities for local clubs is a good thing, but makes it less exciting at the pointy end.
It seems a few idiots left a gate open (while warming up!) at Blackstone Edge this week and a flock escaped, and now that's apparently at risk

Son 1 had to come up to NE of Penrith to meet his potential future employers today. Yesterday his car threw a wobbly, so I've stepped in to ferry him. This has given me 6 hours to play with. I'm not currently fit enough for the fells, but the steamer from Glenridding to Howtown and the walk back (I broke a metatarsal doing the Ullswater race of the Lakeland Trails dirty double back in the day ) was very pleasant. Now chilling in the car before going to pick him up and completing the 400+ mile round trip home!

That's probably the right way to do it TR. We walked Glenridding to Howtown, and had to sprint the last mile when we coul see the boat approaching. Or wait ages for the next one.
Hope the foot heels qickly, but must be close if you can walk that?

Lingmell and the Scafells today. Scafell was just magical, the Pike was just horrendous - never been before, don’t need to go again except maybe at 6am / 6pm with a head torch. Less people at Slough Tesco at 10am on a Saturday!
Green Crag yesterday from Birker Fell Road just as a warm-up as we drove up to Gosforth. Bogsville. Don’t need to go there again either!
The boy took this one today from Scafell. 😍
