We did similar a few years ago, but took the ‘short cut’ back to the east of Goat Water.

That does look a fine walk
I wouldn't need to bag the Old Man as I did it with youngest a couple of years ago, but I have no records of the others I think I ticked off done *many* years ago. Probably not one for this Bank Holiday weekend though.

Youngest and I went up via Goats Water - I'm not sure he's forgiven me yet.

One of my fave loops HB, although unless you've never been around Levers Water and the mines, I think a better route is to head up to Wetherlam on the path above Hen Cragg. It avoids all the poorly outfitted tourists and their screaming offspring and is a lovely quiet and hugely scenic route. It avoids the out and back, and is still about 13 miles. The navigation requires a bit more attention, but far from tricky, so one for a nice day.

We’re not going until the last week of September, so hopefully not too many people about. It’s ridiculous - I’m excited already:-)

Hoping it will be OK, I've been planning walks that don't need the car - parking anywhere isn't going to be fun. But I do need to be in the vicinity at some point, so will shout if I need a dry bed! *thank you* !
