Huge respect to everybody who finished any of those runs on Saturday - it was tough enough standing out in the sun at the feed station but the thought of running those distances in that weather.....
Commiserations to any who had to DNF but you should all be proud of your efforts too

Twas lovely to see you again Andy - always nice to see a friendly face at a CP even if it is a bit hectic to say the least. - thanks for all your efforts.

Another missed opportunity to say hello, Andy - I stopped at every feed station on the 55 route, so I probably technically met you this time.

Hot, humid day for standing around for hours as well - thanks as always to everyone helping stage these races.
Hello, Gromit - missed meeting you again, as well. One day...

Andy, many thanks again for volunteering over the weekend! Amazing level of coordination goes into it all - my only issues were no fault of the organizers
I'm with Gromit on the friendly faces at checkpoints.

beebop - apparently you were in the queue for the ladies when I said hello to Badger at Grasmere. Somehow it didn't seem quite right to try and find you at that point.

Queue wasn’t moving very fast, but staring into space was about all I was capable of at that point, so perhaps better another time.

Back home after another memorable trip to Lakes 😀 first campervan adventure with my new (to me) Bongo 😀
Great company and support over weekend from team flinky, CumbriAndy and Badger, thank you 😀
I found my limit at the final CP (Langdale) of the 100k when my feet called time out 😬
Garmin recorded: 58.6 miles, 3028m ascent. Race record: **DNF.
I loved the midnight start 😍 the head torch trails, the slither of a moon over Haweswater, the views, all of them. The herdies and glow sticks. The CP volunteers were fabulous and I met lots of lovely fellow competitors. I saw new places and familiar places. The body seemed to move better as the day wore on, the mind seemed to cope with the lack of sleep. Just the feet were fecked in way I've never seen before 😬
*I have completed 2x 55k and 2x Lakeland 50 in 2017 & 2018. ** First DNF (Obviously I'm still new to the world of ultra running!)

Well done C-Cat for getting that far, my feet are still not happy , combo of standing in streams to cool down then falling over on a bog section late on have left my feet worse than any other race I’ve ever done

My first and third failure of the UTLD100 was due to feet issues. The importance of a sock/shoe combo that works in all terrain is vital for success at distances over 50 miles in my opinion.
