Cairns are like humans. Cute as babies, but then it all goes wrong.

There is a trig point near Ramsey Mereside that is close to the 0 contour ring, so gues it is below sea level.

Excellent V'rap :) I have a particular dislike of stone piles on beaches - why do they do it?

Do you ever.... get to what is alledgedly the highest point and another point appears higher, but when you go to that point, the original point appears higher? Or perhaps it's just me ;-)

Our last LD Walk included Angletarn Pikes. The summits are only two metres different in height, but they are a couple of hundred yards apart with a fair bit of descent and re-ascent between them, especially at the end of a long day. Whichever one you are on, it is easy to convince yourself that the other one is higher. (If you were on the southern one, you'd be right.)

Does anyone know if there are any fell races in Crosthwaite? I have a memory of watching one when we lived there circa 1976

Another first today: Orrest Head. Very overcast day, but the views were terrific. Here's what a 1.5-mile round trip from Windermere village gets you.

Also, a Gruffalo... just not a very big one (certainly not when compared to Whinlatter's).

Nice one VP. I've never climbed OH before, it's a Wainwright Outlier isn't it? Must get round to tackling them one day.
