Orrest Head was the first hill i took my son up, well worth the effort and enough of interest for children.

Runnyeyes, we used to walk up Helm Crag on our first night of School Camp in Far Easedale - i think the route was this http://www.fetcheveryone.com/route-1802654

The record was about 25 minutes (over 30 odd years) and was probably done in boots.

Well that’s a very good time .. especially in boots! Our kids always knew Helm crag as ‘thumbs up mountain’. I think that’s better than the lion and the lamb or the howitzer.

Rosehip.. the nice thing about this lower level part of the lakes is how much is actually runable. Lots of easy gentle paths.

If you do come this way .. please get in touch.

I love that descent down Cotra Breast. Soft, grassy, springy - perfect for running :-)

It was NE. When I saw it on OS maps I thought it would be a rocky horror... but not at all.

- actually just checked - looks better on the fells than it has been here.

Very best of luck to him and his supporters - I shall enjoy the dot watching :)
