Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

We had a night out up on local moorland a few years ago when we went to the pub for ‘tea’, bivvyed up on the moor then called in a cafe for breakfast on the way home the following morning

Half or so of a Bob Graham with tea in the pub at Wasdale head with a couple of nights bivvying was good too. That was one when we had a period of settled warm weather in August and an opportunity to not take tons of gear

Pocket rocket and a Ti pot with a lit don’t weigh much. I get serious caffeine withdrawal if I go more than maybe 12 hours without tea or coffee

I've never bothered with a stove. A couple of days of cold food & drinks is fine, particularly as I would tend to spend all day snacking when doing any kind of distance anyway. But I've only ever done this kind of thing in decent weather.

While you can spend lots of money on ultra-light equipment, I think it's also true to say that even cheap modern stuff tends to be lighter, warmer, dryer etc. than a decade or two back.

True Cerrertonia, pretty much all modern stuff is so much lighter

The pocket rocket is my absolute fav. I have bigger and fancier stoves but it works so well. Alpkit do a good bivvi stuff too

I can't imagine waking up from a night in a tent or bivvy and not being able to make a cuppa!

Trangia triangle and a pouch of gel rather than a gas stove for me - I have a fear of gas bottles, no idea why.

Watches with interest, I still have hopes of a long walk with a tent, think bivvying is a step too far for this old woman.

lightweight camping for us means only taking one overloaded car, not both

+1 brew is essential. TMI alert... brew also means trowel is another essential...

Agree on trowel.
But at that price ouch. ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk Is still light enough to permanently sit in the bottom of our pack all seasons day trip or multi-day 🤣🤣 We'll just consider the extra grams extra training load. :-)
