Maybe I told them my UK National Insurance no when I started there. I don't think the UK have ever asked me for my German insurance no.

Didn't you de-register from the Einwohnermeldeamt? Might they have got your address from there?

Yes and today I found my Abmeldebestaetigung or to give it its proper name Amtliche Meldebestaetigung fuer die Abmeldung.

There's no new address in the part I can read, but there may be in the 3/4 of the form that's blacked out.
