So it will be interesting how much this rad consumes over night. I leave it on low 24/7 and open and close the insulating blinds as per sunshine/freezing temperatures.

Right!
Transpires I consume £9 in 24 hours, £6 of which is my oil fired rad... When it is cold. Thing is, I have no other way of dealing with heating my building in winter that would be more frugal.
Practically, I over-estimated hours of sunshine in winter. I think we have had 3 days in two months!!! Once the sun shines, the building quickly heats up to 15/16 degrees and the radiator has to do little over night to maintain that temperature. No sun and the thing is on at full blast before and during consultations 😱😱😱

I need to look at the greenhouse, as that heater contributes a lot too, but I'd be looking at solar again and we know that is useless here in winter.

I am glad I did not invest in a solar panel and pump for the greenhouse!

It currently also works on passif solar principles: sun warms the heat sink, in this case a large water tank, which gives up heat at night. No sun = it just slowly uses heat, like the concrete floor in my building.

And must not forget to actually put through my electricity bill as a business expense!!! Well, the greenhouse and Herb Building element!

Not sure if this is the correct thread any more, but after some advice.

Does anyone know how easy is it to remove stairs to install unfloor insulation into the void?

Basically is this realistically a job I need to get someone in to do properly?

Toying with the idea of reconfiguring a bit under the stairs at the same time, although moving gas and electricity meters might be a pain.
