Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Always sad but also a relief that she is no longer suffering. My condolences DocM.

I understand how you feel, DocM. It’s tough when personal wishes make life harder for others. Xx

Sorry to hear that, DocM. Hopefully life will be less constrained for your FiL now, at least.

Thanks LMH. She's pretty wiped out today. We're going to the cinema later so she can wind down a bit

Sorry for your loss DocM, although it sounds like a relief to no longer be holding onto uncertainty

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
