Jeez what a roller coaster. This mornings update from hospital was had a bumpy night and now a chest infection but all was OK. My brother and I headed over but when we got there J had reacted to antibiotics, was being pumped full of adrenaline and trying to be stabilised. We came away back to dad (who isn't feeling well). Back to hospital for 2 bit again couldn't go in as they were doing tests etc. Finally got to see J. Still intubated and sedated, and not great. Dad and I had a come back and just had a call to say being rushed for a scan as pressure building, one eye not responding so be prepared to dash back with dad. This rollercoaster is exhausting

Sorry to hear that Mandy. At that age especially it's going to be unpredictable though I don't think they would have operated if they didn't think they had a reasonable chance of a successful outcome. I hope you get better news.

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
