(((Kaysdee))) You have so much to deal with. Can you access some family therapy or counselling?

We arrived today to find MiL quite confused. Once we got a coffee and the photo album mrs axe made for her 90th we saw a different person. She was looking at photos from the 1930s onwards and could point out who everyone was and a bit about them. However when she got to the last 25 years or so she was less clear.

One year since dad’s death and we planted a tree and put his ashes in as we did so. Myself, mum, brother and husband all got involved and were pleased with the outcome. Later I visited his bench with my husband. A moving, exhausting but successful day.

About This Thread

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
