Son of a Pronator Man
and while we're talking about the Edinburgh Parkrun, remember to turn up on Saturday 27th April to support their aim for 500+ parkrunners. I just ust hope the weather is better than the last time they tried ( it couldn't be worse). I'll be coming straight from the airport with matchsticks in my eyes.

I'll be there! I really would love one on the other side of Edinburgh though... Craigentinny?! Water of Leith, even?

I remember asking about these alternative options when I joined the Edinburgh parkrun team. (I joined after a decision had been made to use Cramond, but before the first, non-public test events were held - it was all still fields. ;-))
Now, I can't remember most of the answers, but the gist was that most places were out of bounds due to council restrictions (e.g. the Meadows - too much going on already) or requirements from the parkrun side of things (e.g. Arthur's Seat - not traffic-free). As far as I remember, pretty much all parks and open spaces in Edinburgh had been considered, and Cramond and poss Portobello Prom (can't quite remember) turned out to be the only options.

This is probably a really stupid question... but are there ever any pacers at parkrun? I'd really like to have someone to stick with for my first one so I don't freak out and run into the sea or anything.

Sometimes. More occasionally really. Some places never do it. Edinburgh does it periodically (Carnegie Harriers usually, I think?) and advise it in advance. Unless there is a specific mention of pacers, I wouldn't expect any. Might be along.
(Given that low tide will be around parkrun time on Saturday, you would have quite a distance to run into the sea Which might make it a good day to visit the island.)
