This is the best update on buses so far : travelinescotland.com Lothian Buses have yet to publish their revised timetables, despite it being next weekend *sigh* |

Nicki and Duchess, I'll have a look at the road closures and bus diversions (once they have been published) and then let you know how to get here. Duchess, will you be driving or taking the bus? If driving, I'd recommend getting here early and going for a space in Gracefield car park behind the Brunton Hall (accessed from New St or North High St via Ladywell Way - no through road from the Edinburgh side of North High St). Half marathon starts at 8am, so the first runners will be coming through after 9am, I reckon. Are there relay runners in either the first or second leg (Which?) whom we know or would you be happy to set up shop where we won't get to see the relay runners? |

Thanks, Duchess. Let's wait for the LRT update so we know exactly at what times to expect delays on which routes. I'll let you guys know the best way to get here by public transport, so don't worry about poring over maps of unfamiliar areas etc, Nicki.

I'll catch buses if its practical (times and such) I'm just concerned about the challenge of getting back to the city centre along with thousands of runners and tourists. Also means I'm restricted to what I can carry rather than bringing anything bulky like water. I don't think there's been any discussion of relay runners in the race thread? So I guess it's the full/half folks were interested in? |

OH has also said he'll come along, although I don't think he realises yet that there may be a morning involved. We'll probably pop along for a bit then head towards Gullane to walk the dog.

Ok, let's go for the bit adjacent to the football field then - prob best stretch to stand. For the runners: from 8 miles, you run along the beach for about 0.2 miles, then turn right (with relay runners going straight ahead into the football field). Look out for some noisy Fetchies just after you've turned right. Prob on the right-hand side of the road, depending on which bits of the football field get cordoned off by the race the night before. Old Mum, depending on what time you'll get here, maybe go for the Tesco car park instead (as Gracefield is likely to be full later on)? Also allows you to get away to Gullane afterwards. Nicki, quick trip to South Africa between now and next weekend? |
