Some comparisons about " the fastest route in Europe and maybe the world". Did I see somewhere that he said it should not be judged on the winning times (as elites can skew this and bigger events will attract more) but on times through the field? Taking the times of the 100th finisher in 2013 as a benchmark then (as some races list only position by gun, some may be a few seconds out):
Berlin 2:34:52 Frankfurt 2:33:15 Valencia 2:40:48 Amsterdam 2:43:45 Eindhoven 2:47:33

So have we all come to the conclusion that anything GSI say is, how do you put it!? B*ll*cks!!
I did chuckle at the notion that it was Sky Sports "Jewel in The Crown" marathon event.

I think the main conclusion is that Chester is better and everyone should run that instead

I was the three hour pacer at Chester last year and I cannot rate the event highly enough. Fantastic scenic route, good organisation, nice city. It is not the flattest of courses, but it is not what I would say hilly either. There is a climb at about mile 25 which at that stage you could do without, but thats about it.

I did Chester a few years ago and like most, would say it's well organised by runners with runners in mind. The course was not as flat as advertised however, this whole experience left me thinking that it's definitely on my 'to run again' list.
Also did Manchester this year and that is right up there with the best I've done....well organised, flat course for the racing snakes, great support along most of the route. This is also one that's on my 'to run again' list and will probably be my Spring marathon next year.

The hill at 25 isn't that bad, it's short and sharp but good to know it's coming so you leave something in the tank to tackle it it did catch quiet a few out when I did it in 2012, not me though, I had a cracking run

Not sure yet, but might be doing it.
SODIron, yes Manchester is a good flat course, a few lumps here an there, mainly going over railways and also through Altrincham. This is a race I have been pacing since its inception. The organisation was disastrous on the first race, but I am glad to say that the organisers learnt a lot of lessons that day and it has run like clockwork since. As a Spring marathon alternative to London then I would certainly recommend Manchester.
