Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Will there be some way to see you? Is there a "fetchpoint" like in London, or at least a place I could go stand and expect to see the fetchies? I promise if you wear your fetch vest, I will yell extra loud!

Don't think there's anything organised for this year but in the past when there was a Fetchpoint, it was out at Prestonpans on the long coastal out and back. But it's not a good place to get to without transport.

Itg depending on your times, Musselburgh itself would be a good place. In previous years I've cheered at Links View which is only about 7/8 miles in but allows you to see the half and full if you're there early enough.

I will be coming from Dundee and cannot really leave before 9 (well, I *can* but I'd like to go a short run, then enjoy my lush full Scottish breakfast at the hotel, then take the train) so I will probably have to find you towards the latter part of the race (unless you run really slowly!)

I don't mind getting a taxi out if there is a fetchpoint but I am not sure how good their access is or what the traffic will be like. I only know Edinburgh Princess St and Royal mile; nothing roundabout. But I know how to read a map :)

Your best bet would probably be a bus. Lothian Buses #26, 44 or 113 - £1.50 each journey, exact change only. You'd proba get a taxi out to Musselburgh ok but not much chance of getting one back. A good few roads are closed for the route itself but as it pretty much hugs the coast it's not too disruptive to everyone else (well, mostly!).

Thanks, Duchess. I know there are special supporters' buses running but a regular bus would no doubt be cheaper :) In any case, if I get a bus or taxi out, I can get a bus back in.

Sorry to keep going on, but I have only ever been to one "mass-start" marathon - Loch Ness and I was running. It's not that big, I was really slow and I was running for MacMillan so it was easy for my folks to find the "cheering station" and for me to see them. I'm imagining the last 2k are pretty packed with people but maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, if there are other fetchies or fetch-families, it would be more fun if we could meet up somehow. But I realise me turning up three-quarters of the way through may make that impractical!

I could get a train to Wallyford and walk up to Ravenshaugh Road. It's maybe 1-2km, so eminently walkable. I'll leave my case at left luggage in Waverley. Will it be packed that close to the finish line?

I think it's pretty busy around there, certainly Linkfield Road is normally solid, as is the final finish in the playing field.

I'm not sure if I'm Edinburgh that weekend but if I am, I'm probably going to be somewhere around. :-)

I might go a bit further up then. If I can get off my butt and on the train from Dundee a little after 9, I'll me in edinburgh for 11; give me 30-45 minutes to check my case and get up to the marathon somehow. The next train from Dundee (it being Sunday) is not till 11am. Will work on it, definitely! But there is plenty time to make plans :)
