2006 was my first marathon. 2007 the start was at the west end of Princes St then out on the coast and 2008 was when it moved to Regent Road start. The 2nd start on London Road was a few years later, maybe 2010 or 11

It was really easy to drive in, park near centre, then walk 1 mile to start for me on Edinburgh marathon race day. We'll advise you Harlequin - Bazo can tell you about buses, I'll be able to advise you on car parking! :-) G

I'm not sure yet.

I found an airbnb place just off Portobello High St which looks ok, but I think I'll have to get a bus back to town to start the race, and that makes me nervous about how busy / effective public transport is going to be. I won't have a car because I'm flying up - it's a long way. I read something somewhere that said last year the traffic was a total disaster!

I've got family near Selkirk & they've offered to let me stay, which is nice, but means a train into the city. I went to a Christmas Market last year and had to wait for two trains to go by because they were so full I couldn't get on. I really don't want to be stuck on a platform somewhere, or having to sprint to make the start line.

I'm going to have enough things to worry about that morning. Yes I'm probably overthinking it, but I'm the kind of person that gets to an airport four hours before a flight and still worries about being late.

Yes, Portobello is in an awkward position as its on route and there will be road closure from early as the HM follows the same route and starts at 8am. The best bus from there is the 26 but there will be others I think

I thought there was a thing in the entry form about including a bus back from the finish to the start (or am I misremembering)

There is. That's going to be delightful. Apparently it's a 1m walk from the finish line to the bus stop. That mile might feel like about six.
