Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thanks Ice. The taper, yeah, that's what its called isn't it?

Looks like this thing will take me 4.5 hours - I keep telling myself that (for the first one) the time doesn't matter...

Honestly, time does NOT matter for your first. Mine took 5hrs and a few seconds. It did not go well and I swore I would never do it again. But here I am queuing up for #3 and really excited :)

Hey, I'm running Edinburgh this year. Did the Keswick Half marathon this weekend as a bit of a fitness test/long temp run. I've heard it's a flat course, but you can get caught out with the wind. How has everyone else found it?

The two Edinburgh marathons have been done in Costa Del weather, sunny-hot and no wind. the last couple of years have had a strong wind in the last 7 miles. So, it could be anything.

Im doing the EDB-NB race this weekend, and it has an easterly wind all the way there. 20 miles...head wind! fricking awesome.

It's Scotland so wind is quite likely; I think the prevailing wind is from the West which on balance, is in our favour but in reality means we turn into it for the last few miles. I run in all kinds of weather and it's not that different from running uphill - that's probably the best way to prepare for it in any case. And if we get a nice, not-too-hot, calm day, with no rain, that's just a bonus :) Anything over 10C and I'll be suffering!

I just stalked your race times, baz, and the phrase "fucking hell" escaped my lips. Just as well tribabies are at school.
