There is a rather long walk to buses provided for this race. I heard service buses are cheaper and faster to get back into town, I have bought race bus ticket just to be safe but will hop on service bus if there is one going my way. I will carry my bus pass with me anyway.

WhiskyMurray, you asked about a pub. Whilst there are afaik others along the High St, if you like your beers THE place to go is Staggs. Unfortunately, it's not right next the finish but, hey, always good to keeps the legs moving after the race? Given decent weather, the trip Finish > S.Luca's (buy ice-cream) > banks of the Esk (eat ice-cream) > Staggs could be just the thing. http://www.fetcheveryone.com/route-1758977 Fish and chips also available on the High St. |

Ultracat - I bought the bust ticket "just in case" last year, and could have cried when the Marshall told me how far I'd need to drag my cramped-up legs to reach the pickup point. He then pointed at the stop for the service bus (just yards from the park), where there were four buses queued up waiting to go as soon as the runners filled them. Ran like clockwork!

I shouldn't type and eat pizza at the same time. Obviously meant "Bus ticket" and not a dodgy-sounding "Bust ticket".

For anyone contemplating the scheduled bus service (and they are excellent) the fare is £1.60 per single adult journey (regardless of distance), no return tickets (although you can buy a day pass for £4.50), exact change only and only cash accepted. As a local, I'm hoping for a lift home from a friend. But if I wasn't, I'd be getting a local bus. |

The local bus is sounding like a good option. Anyone know what number bus to look for?

the 30's generally quite a slow option unless you're staying in the south of the city, but bearing in mind the 15, 26 & 44 share quite a bit of the marathon route it might not be quite so clear-cut.

Here's last year's bus info in a handy picture. It appears that buses from Musselburgh town ran mainly as normal. lothianbuses.com
