Yo, Fraser, I did leg 2 once, and just ran back to where I'd left my car at changeover. Buses have been chaotic in the past, iirc.

Short walk from bus station round the corner to trains that take you right onto Edinburgh central. I won't be getting the bus.

Did the bus in 2007 and the memory of it lingers with me, not in a good way.
Also, buses left from Waterloo Place, which was on the route so we got to watch over hydrated runners peeing (and worse) on Carlton Hill as the buses waited for the runners to pass.

I read the buses were bad but booked my return ticket anyway for security. It seems to be almost as much treck to the bus pick up as to the regular train into Waverley.

Any recommendations for a pub near the finish?

Also: how are the water stations and gels, etc? (does anyone know what brand?) and are there lots of toilets?
At Pisa, the water stations were horrible bottlenecks and there were no start-line loos! Hellish!

pubs - there are a couple in Musselburgh itself, about 5-10 mins walk from the finish, on the highstreet.
toilets - there are toilets, but not loads. there are also toilets scattered along the starting area that may help ease the over crowding near the baggage area.

Who needs a pub when you've got Luca's ice cream parlour next door to the finish?
