I think everyone wanted him to. He’s a decisive character and I’d love to know what he really thinks of Belichick - but it all feels shabby the way it shook out. If he was going to go he should have been allowed to do it with some sort of dignity.

[because of the timing of me being over there I still have a bit of me that views Brady as a young upstart that took Drew Bledsoe’s job]

Why did the Packers trade up for a QB?

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Belichick has had huge success with an all business, no sentiment attitude. Why should he change now and compromise his team's performance at the whim of someone he clearly knows to be on the slippery slope to retirement.
Contrasts well with the recent example of the Yankees allowing Derek Jeter to play Shortstop like a First Baseman for a couple of seasons.

The under-over is what, 8.5? If it shakes out something like that - my money is on over as I can’t see anything worse than 9-7 or 10-6 then the world really will have rocked on its axis. Without the burden of a historical link to the Pats I’d secretly love it to all go to rats - 5-11 or something daft.
That’d be a thing. The Bolts finishing with a better record than the Pats. That would be funny.
For clarity I’m *not* one of those dodgy sentimentalists that’s suddenly decided to be a Bucs fan. The Bucs falling on their arses would also amuse me. They were 7-9 last year. It could still get worse.

And in answer to Fifters-Severs: erm. Because A-Rod is 36?

Brady was average last year and I guess the combination of money and years vs expected production wasn't worth, unless you're going for a loyalty perspective but we know that's not the Pats way. That said, if you don't get better to replace him...
A fit Cam Newton would be good.
Isn't the real issue that the Pats traded away the potential replacements?
For the Bucs it's an obvious upgrade. Would be funny if the laser surgery that Winston has had, sorted his turn over issue though as he'd be pretty lethal if he could keep the ball!
