DOMS = Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness

Let's share our pain and maybe have a laugh about it. :)

What have you been doing lately to bring on the dreaded Doms?

Coming back from the lurgy I did an Insanity class yesterday. It was great at the time but I'm feeling it today. It started with my legs and bum but now I can feel my chest and shoulders and ....... ;-)

I then ran today and my legs and bum are feeling even worse :-o

And if it was only yesterday it's going to get worse, alpenrose, so you did well to get your run done early today :)

Last week I had upper body DOMS for five full days after an indoor climbing session, and for most of that time it overlapped with DOMS in my quads from (I assume) a run in which I'd put in some effort here and there.

Today I have DOMS in just a few places in my upper body from an indoor climbing session on Friday (hoping that'll go away so that I can do another session tomorrow) and have slightly sore legs and abdominals from a hill walk yesterday but it's too soon for that to be DOMS. It's possible that the soreness in my calves has nothing to do with the hill walk and is from running on the treadmill on Friday night.

And we do this stuff ... why?

:)

I'm getting my legs flushed tomorrow so hopefully I won't get any DOMS when I start skiing next week.

Envious of the skiing snow though leg flushing sounds intriguing.

Fell races that have a significantly steep descent such as Skirrid and The Blorenge do it, milder ones such as The Kymin yesterday that only drops 660 feet in the last 1.5 miles don't cause any issue for me.

I do a fair bit of weight training as well as the running and with it comes regular DOMS after a hard session. I've found that the best ways to decrease the severity of the inevitable is makig sure you get protein in your system asap after a workout, allowing time for an extra hour or so of sleep, hot a and cold treatment and cherry juice. One or all will help but DOMS is always gonna get ya!
