Considering a tutu for VLM as I'm running for charity. Plus they just make me smile. Is this a really bad idea? And if not, where do you get them, are there running-specific tutus or do you just head for the nearest dance/fancy dress shop?

I have a tutu I wore at Hell Runner, it's purple and cost a few quid from Claire's Accessories. It's quite short hence light and I found it pretty comfy to run in over capris. I'd happily wear it to every race if I could

See my profile pic, that pink tutu came from a party shop and has survived several 10ks along Weston s Mare beach in December. The wings came from Poundland and were a touch on the small side so might be annoying for 26.2 miles. As fleecy says, the shorter the better. And, the stickier-out the better because otherwise it might get tangled in your thighs and that could be very uncomfortable!

Fab, thanks girls. Short, sticky-outy. Clare's Accessories. (And there was me wondering about specialist running tutu shops...) Think wings might be too much of a good thing... |

Well you can also buy one online, they are described as clubbing tutus, think they're missing a trick not calling them running tutus thetutushop.co.uk |

I think the fishnets might chafe after 26 miles though
