Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

You can write a blog, attaching it to the race you did. The most popular ones appear in the blog list on the race page.

Most that are posts go in the target threads or race threads. There's also the blog option.

Seconded! I have chatted with Fetch about this in the past and specifically about the possibility of a Race Reports/Reviews section at a pretty high level on the website. I think the present approach of having blogs that are linked to races is very good and, frankly, unless you redesign the site completely (which I am *not* advocating!), it’s hard to see how it could be improved.

It’s relatively easy to scan down the list of blogs and see which ones are linked to races and, as Fetch indicates above, the best ones linger on the Races top page for a bit longer.

After that, and this is a really good feature, you need to go to a specific race listing to find all the reports and reviews (regardless of year) for that race. I think searching by race listing for old reports is better than searching threads would be too.

Remember too that reports and reviews could be seen as quite different things, but usually get bundled into a single piece of writing.

Reading this back, I think I’d conclude that, if you want reports of recent races, you need to keep an eye on the blogs; if you want to see reviews when researching a particular event, go to the race listing.

But no harm in a thread to announce or highlight reports if that turns out to be popular!

I was thinking of a single place to say we did this or that race with a *brief* opinion as to whether it was any good. Personally I'm not interested in lengthy writings and mile by mile accounts but many are so could always link to one's blog.

For example:
The KVK (Kernow Vertical Kilometre) done yesterday, at Perranporth in Cornwall. Nearly 16 miles of technical stony and muddy trails, brutal ascents and descents including four times to the top of St Agnes beacon to make 1,000 metres of climb. Complicated course but generously and excellently marshalled. Good race hq and smoothly organized overall. Wonderful views. Pb potential zero and not a race I would want to do in wet and windy conditions but on a calm day great fun. A bit pricey but I can see where the money went. I like bling at the finish and this race has a rather fancy "cowbell" medal. Electronic tags but still no results at time of writing early the following morning.

I can start a thread if people think it'll get used.

But isn’t this what you do on the review part after a race when you fill in how it went on the race here?

I'm always happy to see additional options for writing/reading about races and might be more likely to take note of a narrative review than a checklist.
