Love the hat. I have another newt for today. I gave away my bicycle. I was given this bike as a present for passing my O Levels when I was 16.

It served me well into adulthood when I used to cycle from the London/Essex borders into Central London to work and home (I started doing this during a tube strike and then just carried on because I preferred it.) There was a massive roundabout at the Bow flyover which I hated going round so on the way home (but never on the way in) I always cycled over the flyover. I must have had no fear in those days.

Anyway the bike stayed in my parents garage after I left home then in our shed after a house move by my parents. But it hasn't been ridden in probably 20 years and so I gave an honest description of it on FB market place and a lady from just round the corner said her husband has a week off work next week so he can get it back into working order (he'll be thrilled) so could she have it. It was a sad newt but not as sad as if I'd had to take it to the tip.

(That's quite a long post perhaps I should write a blog.....)

Went for a hike today. Went down some new paths and saw our first violets of the year.

And I bought some violas today. I was a gonner as soon as Lazy Daisy mentioned their cheerful little faces in a blog :-)

Wow that’s a long time to keep a bike BBL, but good that it will be fixed up and used again.

We've got lots of violets too.

I can't think of anything newtish today. I did a sprint session I haven't done before - but it didn't seem novel enough to qualify. Raffo's nabbing all the newts here, I'll have to newt by proxy...

I think it was sea-something Sharkie. Sea Fade?

I've got some very Not Newt violas in the garden that I think I planted in November. Can't believe how well they've done.

Aww thanks Fleecy ❤️ I hate presenting no matter how well I know my subject or how often I do it. Appreciate the kudos.

Loving the campervan MM & cool hat Maz they keep popping up on FB ads since hats were mentioned the other day.

Right I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for newting duties!

About This Thread

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
