We don’t have a bath anymore and I don’t miss it at all.

Must be honest most of the baths I have are post long runs. I used to have a bath to read my book but now my eyes are not working so well it doesn’t happen. Glasses steam up and it becomes too much hard work. I’m sure this is the main reason I don’t bother with a bath.

I also still don’t read as much because of my eyes. I just can’t find something that work. Varifocals feel wrong I can see better beyond reading distance without them. Reading glasses are blurred beyond reading distance. I am trialling contacts but it’s only wearing a lens in one eye which feels wrong as one has something in it the other doesn’t & I’m very conscious of it... if I manage to get it in without problem which doesn’t happen.

I looked into surgery last year but it was £8k!! I cannot afford that but 199% if I could I’d do it I hate my eyes not working well.

That's sad gg. I hope you find something that works. My varifocals have been a revelation- I can't read in contact lenses at all- but I know they're not for everyone. Even now occasionally i get that whooshy sensation as though everything around me is moving because I happen to glance out of thd wrong bit of the lens. I'd hate not being able to read or do close work like cross stitch though.

I've had no issues with varifocals at all
now I WFH I occasionally wear my single vision which are great for laptop use but OMG when I look or move about!
I wear contacts on the bike and OW swimming ... can see distance but hardly see my watch and phone is really hard!

I do heart a bath but mainly shower as I train 6 days a week and it's quicker

I would not be happy without a bath.

That's not to say I would never buy a house without one,but if there was a brand new not-bathroom it would definitely put me off.

I guess I’ll lucky that I’m short sighted, reading my phone in the bath with the naked eye! 😂 it’s just an inconvenience that I need to take my glasses off to read!

I do think if you persevere with one cl it will start to feel normal GG but I guess it’s easy for me after 34 years of only wearing one. It’s just a shame my left eye really doesn’t work though!

I go through phases of having a bath, not had one for years but recently had loads, it’s definitely more relaxing than a shower
Sharkie: Weybridge is a few days ahead of us in terms of blossom I’ve noticed when walking there, but otherwise most things are early here. Couldn’t believe how many bats I saw last night near the lake, usually you see a few in my garden or down this end of the the river but there were lots!

I can read with or without glasses!
If reading during the day I won't bother taking glasses off but at night I will sit in bed with my kindle without glasses fine!

Yeah me too, I usually read in bed without glasses. Love my varifocals though and adjusted very fast

About This Thread

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
