Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

If a motorist is dazzled by a flashing rear cycle light I would posit that they shouldn’t be bloody driving in the first place.

Anything that can make you more visible has to be worth doing.

I would not judge someone quite so quickly, particularly a lovely friendly Fetchie trying to explain a point of view.

Not judging them. Just explaining my point of view.

Yeah sorry. Didn’t read the whole post. Thought that Flatlander was being general. But seriously. If you are momentarily blinded as described by a flashing cycle light you really should be getting your eyes checked. How many other flashing lights are there out there.

I've talked to car drivers who complain about bright cycle lights, yet they seem oblivious to the fact many newer cars have lights bright enough to guide in an aeroplane.

I always have my lights on during the day. It might not do any good but it can't do any harm.

Having experienced riding behind very bright rear lights on night rides, they are blinding. One in particular was like looking into the sun. They need to be tilted downwards.

Anyone who's seen my set up will be aware that I run in daylight:
Two steady rear (one includes a reflector) and a blinky.

Plus I wear a bright orange bike helmet. Front blinky and one steady.
And yet...somehow I'm invisible.

I would agree that if you are sat behind a bike for a long time then the lights will seem bright. But that’s the exception. Normally it’s catch up then pass in a car. And the whole point of them is to increase your visibility. To be blinded by them you have to have seen them first. So then to run into the back of someone that you’ve obviously already seen is pretty poor driving.
