Wriggling Snake
The ECB rule, most CCC would fold, so they get the say-so. Still looks a mess.

Batty off to Bangladesh. What's the thinking behind that?

I see Haseeb Hameed has been selected for the tour of Bangladesh and India -deserved in my view after 4 centuries and 7 half centuries in his first full season. He's a quiet, accumulating kind of batsman who doesn't attempt anything fancy. Ideal as an opening bat in the long form of the game. Of course test level at 19 yrs old is a big step up but good luck to him. He says he wouldn't mind being compared to Geoff Boycott (hmm!) as he had "quite a good career." Not sure Geoffrey would agree with the "quite" bit. There's another prospect at Lancs at opening bat, Rob Jones also 19 I think who made his first century against Middlesex last week after carrying his bat through for 106 not out after the wreckage of 6-4. |

To be fair i think Hameed was told that people were comparing him to Boycott, he didn't put it forward himself, so he was replying to what he thought about being compared to Boycott.

Surprised Durham's Mark Stoneman was overlooked. Scored over 1000 runs in each of the last 4 seasons & watch out for Keaton Jennings (also Durham). He has qualified for England (he's South African) and like Hameed scored 7 centuries this season.

I'm sure this business about Bairstow not being allowed to play for Yorkshire against Middlesex makes sense to someone, but from the outside, it all looks a bit fishy. No central contract and he's played 5 days cricket in the last 5 weeks, so the ECB are resting him. Meanwhile Finn, who does have a central contract, can play for Middlesex. If Middlesex do win the title, we'll be hearing about it from aggrieved Yorkies for ever more.
