Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I thought my list was the same as Nicholls as the first series I remember is the Aussies in 72 but then I looked and Underwood only played the last two tests and I certainly remember the Second at Lords when Massie took 16 wickets, if not the First at Old Trafford (England changed Arnold for Price in the Second). So now I'm going to have to sit down and work it out :-)

I remember Barry Wood on debut. I probably watched matches before the 5th Test, but this is the one I can actually remember.

Its going to be interesting to see how different two lists based on starting with the same series but different tests are going to be. My 2nd generation starts with the last test in India and as Embury didn't play in that they are already on completely different tracks.

Answer not much in the end. Probably now on fifth generation?

1 - First or Second Test Versus Australia 1972 - Geoff Boycott
2 - Fifth Test Versus India 1981/82 - Graham Gooch/Mike Gatting (last test was the same)
3 - First Test Versus West Indies 1995 - Graham Thorpe
4 - First Test Versus Australia 2005 - Ian Bell
5 (?) - Versus Pakistan 2015 - ?

286 for sri Lanka. Enough to win 2 games against the 'old' England, new version could knock this off with 5 overs to spare if they hit their straps.

I've slagged off Chris Woakes a bit in the past few months, I'm glad he's making me eat some humble pie by proving he can play international cricket.

Or, you know, collapse, but still tie it on the last ball. That finish was hilarious. I actually feel sorry for Sri Lanka.
