Much though I hate Surrey and everything it stands for, I do love Kemar Roach. He’s not much taller than me for all love - and a West Indian quick(ish) of the old school.

Umeed (Somerset) must be the worst batter in Division One. Last week he only faced three balls across both innings but hit a boundary with the other. Today it's a second ball duck.

Surrey fielding a weakened side against Essex with only Roach and Lawes having much First XI experience among the bowlers. Batters look OK but Josh Blake has the gloves instead of Smith and Foakes.

Barring an Essex win, Somerset are 52-3 in the 2nd-3rd place play-off.

Lancashire must be getting frustrated with the rain delay start. Just had a shower down here after a bit of sunshine. What is it looking like in Chelmsford?
