Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

That makes more sense – I’d misread previously that Blowers Jr was the inspiration for Fleming’s Blofeld, and I was always confused by the age disparity between Fleming and Blowers…

Fleming said he thought Blofeld was the most evil sounding name he'd ever heard. Blowers is many things but I don't think evil one of them, my dear old thing.

The gravamen of the Times article was that Wodehouse named Jeeves after Percy Jeeves , who played for Warwickshire before he was killed in action in 1916..

do you know Blowers' backstory? he was a brillaint cricketer at School, posh school that is, and got his by abus on his bicycle. he then still managed to play for Cambridge, but was not the player he was before the accident.

Big decision for Cook today...to pick Finn or not to pick Finn, that is the question? It's Finn's home ground and his record there is good, but his form was so poor at Trent Bridge and the Aussies really smacked him around. I'd opt for Bresnan as he's also capable of adding a few runs...

Looking forward to another rollercoaster test match :-)

Bres hasn't been that impressive with the ball of late tho. It's a difficult call, but I'd stick with Finn, if only because he tends to perform well at Lords.

Bresnan in, Finn out.

Good tossing from Cook, and we bat. Let's not have any of this rollercoaster test malarkey. Grind them out of the test by batting for 2 days at 3 runs an over.
