Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Batting to protect your wicket and not taking risks should be the approach. I.e. to ensure they do not lose. If the chance to win arises as a result, then take it, but this is a chance to keep ahead

That's not the Bazball way.

It's all about trying to dominate your opposition at all times possible. Winning and losing are irrelevant.

And draws are pointless.

If there was one day left then a draw would be a slim but plausible chance. But there isn't so it's not.

I think it can be safely said that England will not try to play out a draw under the current captain/coach.

Actually I had thought tomorrow was the final day. Changes my thinking and must keep up.

The draw talk had me looking it up too!

Has anyone ever in the history of cricket batted for more than 2 full days to get a draw? It must be an amazingly rare event.

This one came to mind - India were 47-1, following on in their second innings at the end of day 3, batted 180 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. This would obviously be 3rd innings of the game rather than 4th.

Impressive but not quite the same, as they were well ahead (went past NZ shortly after lunch it seems) so the last bit was getting meaningless.
