That Moores interview highlights where the problem lays. Cricket , especially on the shorter firms, isn't just able numbers and analysis, it's about passion, belief and having some balls. No wonder the players are playing like a bunch of accountants when he is setting that example. He did get one thing right though: he can make a difference. He can quit

Trying that again without the typos....

I had the BBC OBO on and Boycs was chuntering more and more as the innings unravelled. Apart from at Jos Buttler.

I don't know what's more annoying. The result or inadvertently finding it out before watching the highlights later. A lot of angry cricket-loving Englishmen at the moment!

I think you should be grateful. It saved you wasting an hour of your life just getting angry at the TV.

Shame there's no anger amongst the England squad. They seem bemused, almost like they didn't see it coming, like they have some sort of right to make it to the latter stages of the competition.

Exactly flanker - telling that the first thing they said after the Sri lanka game was that the total we set 'wins game here 72% of the time' (or whatever the exact amount was).

They'd pored over years of stats to work out what was a 'good' total at the ground - ignoring the opposition, conditions, pitch, way the game has moved on etc. Hence after Ali got us off to a flyer they fiddled around in the middle overs because they honestly thought they were building a winning total, and had no need to really push on. They had absolutely no idea they were throwing the game away. Unbeleivable.

On the positive those fuckers have to stay out there for the next 5 days, suffering and hopefully getting the p&ss taken out of them by the Assie press, until the dead rubber against Afghanistan. That makes me happy!

Of course 275 was chaseable. Ireland would have managed it. The point is that your current team can't chase anything, Peter.

Of course after that start against SL, Aus and SA would have gone on to a total that would win the match 99% of the time...

I also bet their statistical models didn't include the bowlers opening the cateteria for 50 overs.
