MOtM stats aren't particularly reliable.
Batsmen have a significant advantage over bowlers when it comes to the award.

And it is very rare for the MotM to get awarded to a player on the losing side

I doubt many wicketkeepers get man of the match either.
Looking at those England MoM stats the better players tended to get MoM for approx 10% of number of tests played. I’m not sure what this proves exactly though.
Perhaps there needs to be a new award to reflect England’s current state - least crap player of the match.

57.5 Days of Pain
Surely first class cricket exists almost entirely to generate stats given the woeful crowds and limited TV appeal of many matchups. The little yellow book is really all that matters in two or three centuries of the games history.

With the follow-on score at 217 it is entirely possible that England won't get there with two innings!
Hard to read this and comprehend how bad it is (from BBC) The last 53 balls of that session went for no runs and cost three wickets. In 16.5 overs, England scored 23-4 and there were two dropped catches.

I read the bbc headline
Stokes puts pressure on Australia.
And thought today must have been a good day. Then I checked the score

A quick 50 and out is just what the match situation called for.
