Liam Norwell took a 5for and Dom Bess a 4for - there's some positives for you.
I won't mention the 13-3 in reply....

The plan was to use Leach to control the run rate and rest the quick bowlers, like Australia did with Lyon with his 9 overs for 21 runs. Even Boris thinks we need a plan B and even C.

Yes, but Leach had hardly bowled an over in anger in ages, and is relatively inexperienced, and they (root) just chucks him the ball when he has run out of ideas, Lyon has played 100 tests.

Leach has been messed about a lot in the last 2 years.

It's what happens when the NGB has a greater interest in organising pyjama theatricals that owe more to pantomime than test cricket rather than focussing on organising a proper competitive cricket environment for the development of test cricketers. Oh, and actually lets the players it wants to play test cricket play in it....

Agree flyingfinn. Unless you use totally different squads I can’t see how limited overs and test success can be achieved simultaneously

Well, you could coach good technique from an early age and ADD improvisation once the basics are mastered...

Root, Stokes being good examples, maybe Buttler, Woakes, Bairstow, Moeen not so great. The Aussue attack is pretty much T20 isn't it?
