What's the story with Stokes? Series ending injury or a bit of stiffness that'll come out overnight?

Robinson apparently struggling as well. At least they won't have to bowl in a second innings

The plan is to tire the Aussie batsmen out in the first test by making them run so often, then get them in the second.

May I be the first…..
Well England’s cricketers are like the rest of us…..didn’t get Head last night.
Leach 11 overs, 95 runs. We dropped Broad for that.

Burns takes the regulation catch early on, might be different. Confidence game.... we won't see him beyond the 2nd Test. He's burgling a living at the moment.

Leach has more practice as a drinks carrier than a bowler. Unfortunately, he is and always has been someone who has to bowl regularly to see the best of him.

First 3 tests of 2002/3 series:
- loss by 384 runs
- loss by innings and 51 runs
- loss by innings and 48 runs
Can this year's shambolic and pitiful effort exceed those margins of defeat to lose the urn....

I'm guessing they will be 300 runs behind at the close of Australia's innings, so loss by an innings and 100 runs looks to be on the cards for the first test.
the series will be worse this time because come the third test, after Anderson and Broad work themselves lame, we won't have any fit bowlers. None of the batsmen are on form either. I wish there were any reasons to feel optimistic but I can't see any.
