Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

There's something seriously wrong when a four day game yields 1400 runs fir just 10 wickets :(

The split points was odd, but other than that the format worked pretty well on the whole.

Now just to have more county games played (a) in summer and (b) with centrally contacted players available.

Hopefully the weather will hold for another week

Moeen retires from test cricket.
I've always liked him, when on form he's been well worth his place, but in recent times his form just hasn't been there for test cricket. Not sure his heart has been in it - i think he's struggled mentally with the demands, even more so during covid

I think that's fair, TR. I remember the odd hundred with some class but he was effectively forced to be the spin option when he was probably only good enough to be a bit better than Root. Perhaps if he'd been trusted to bat at 5 and occasionally bowl, we'd have seen a bit more from him or maybe he was 'only' very good.

Some talent, but flaky. Pursued for a bit too long as we dreamed we could have both a front line spinner and another player to shore up the batting. He was never that player.
