I think Sibley will play rather than Crawley. THE selector said he wants to give people as much as a chance as possible, it could be the only change is Broad!

I’d rather they went with Crawley. There’s potential there, if he can stay in there’s runs, potentially match winning runs.
Sibley is a club cricketer. He does not have any shots. He has good concentration and stickability and in County games when there is a big drop off in quality to 3rd/4th seamer he can crab along and contribute.
But at test level 3rd/4th seamers are very good, so he can’t score, can’t spread the field and heaps pressure on his partner to get the scoreboard moving. In short, persisting is a waste of time as there is no potential upside.

It was always going to happen with fast bowlers (all of ours have injury histories, Stones was on the hundred yesterday, he is as dull as ditchwater but having screws in your lumber region doesn't add up to a long a successful fast bowling career if you ask me), and particularly with Anderson and Broad given their ages, a hard few games and they're in trouble, Anderson was winging it down at 87mph the other day, quite a bit faster than normal. England might have to pick a spinner, perhaps the 18 man squad needs extending.
