I can't (and won't) argue against stats, even if they say that Malan is the best T20 batsman in the world. But he is probably the third or 4th best Hundred batsman in the Trent Rockets.

Issue is that they can either have the batsman, or the spinner. That solves one of the two problems.

But they’ll pick Moeen, and solve neither….

Other countries still pick spinners who are good at bowling spin, even if they are a complete Tufnell with the bat. So pick Leach?*

* only if Rashid refuses to change his mind.

Malan CFRO. Can’t even spell his Christian name properly.

Might as well get Uncon in. Marginally better to get 18 in 3 or 4 overs with 3 glorious cover drives than have Sibley scratching around for 2 and half hours for the same 18 mostly trying and failing to get splice to ball…..

Interesting conversation about leg spin during The Hundred match last night. Basically saying that leg spin was dead until Warne came along, then everybody tried to bowl like him (accurate, no free hits) but weren't good enough to bowl in Test cricket. But with the advent of T20, leg spinners can afford to bowl bad balls if they take wickets, so the art is thriving. Teams in T20 leagues round the world (and The Hundred) now wanting leg spinners and extreme pace, no place for the old fashioned, military medium trundlers.

The other thing is you can bowl a bad ball in T20/Hundred and claim it’s a ‘variation’.
