Someone has obviously waited until "the right time" to release this to the media. That said, I'm a little surprised that England Cricket aren't doing past social media checking. Not that it should stop someone being picked, but so that the ECB could have instead of the statement they came out with, they could have said: yes, we're aware of this, xxx has apologised and agreed to these redemptive measures/training etc.

At university, I lived next door to a former England opener, now a tv commentator, and know that he did far worse things than this at the age of 18.
