rf_fozzy May 2021 1:42pm, 27 May 2021 14,603 posts	0 rf_fozzy He was brought into the team by Ed Smith because he can "change games" with his "rate of scoring" - whereas in contrast his best test innings have been when he's knuckled down and played properly. Either he's getting pressure to go out and crash it round the park (and therefore being misused), or he can't play properly every time. If he was batting at 8 or 9, fair enough, but he was brought in to bat at 5,6,7. I also have some qualms around the way that Stokes has been batting recently too and think he should be lower down the order. Problem England have is they have no openers, no no3, Joe Root, no no5, then about 20 players who can all bat in the 6-8 range. So we end up cramming the order with some of those players who should be "good lower order" into 'proper' batting roles and then we're suprised that either we put a lower score than we should or everything comes off and everyone scores.

Yorkshire recover to 159 all out, with 19yr old wicketkeeper Harry Duke top scoring on 52. Think I'm right in saying that his only previous County Championship innings was a duck.
