*puts on tin hat* I always felt Trent Bridge was the runt of the test grounds... In a 5 test series it should always go Lords Headingley Edgbaston Old Trafford The Oval |

Obviously, I am biased towards Trent Bridge (no, really, I am) but you always hear so many overseas players and commentators, saying so often, how much they enjoy Trent Bridge, that why would you possibly want to go to The Oval or Headingley, or even Old Trafford before coming here? I can understand the tradition of Lord's and the tie in with MCC, I can also understand the atmosphere generated by the modern Edgbaston (well, the Hollis Stand really) and the advantage that gives us, but all the other grounds, nah. |

There's the slight issue that Lords is the biggest ground. Thus 2 tests at Lords = money Which is the reason for 2 tests. The "woolly" touchy-feely answer is that it's the "home of cricket" and it's right that all nations get to play there. Trent Bridge usually swings round corners Dio.... James Anderson wouldn't like it if England didn't play there. Re: Cardiff, Riverside. There's a strong case to be made about allowing the "provinces" some test cricket at some point. And against decent teams not just Bangladesh. They like Southampton because Mark Nicholas. And it's southern. And like all things in this country there is a massive southern bias. |

Two for the South, two for the North, one for the Midlands, that's fair. If there are six, then Trent Bridge

Anything South of Chesterfield is "South" Anything North of Newcastle is "Scotland" Anything West of Chester is "Wales" And of course anything Yorkshire is "Yorkshire" Simple rules to live by. |

Shouldn't we be picking the grounds with the most "English" conditions. Alternatively, this: howstat.com Leave out Trent Bridge and Lords? |

I saw England play Australia at Cardiff and The Riverside, both were sold out, Cardiff seemed more of a cricket ground, the beer queue was impossible and was never sorted and THAT IS IMPORTANT, the riverside indeed looked like a festival ground, loads of the seating were just brought in for the game, good game, but v.poor in just about everything else. Bristol, bristol had some good england ODI games, ditto seating, looks more the part now. |
