Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Interesting trott stat I found today. The most test runs without hitting a 6. 3,200 odd runs

ITB is not well remembered by the women or men folk from Taunton in the late 70s. I have first hand accounts (I am too young), that do not shed a good light. Different times indeed. Let's be generous and say boorish.

Botham was a childhood hero of mine, but there's no way he would be ahead of Flintoff or Stokes in the all-time England all-rounders list. Some great moments, but also long multi-year periods of pretty ordinary performances.

I think if you stuck to the years 1977-81, he'd be in ahead of peak Flintoff (2003-6?)

Was that for the daily 10 mile run or the Bob Dylan fandom, Greppers?

Sibley deserves some credit. As an opener, he obviously mostly faces the new ball, yet he was out twice to leg-spin against Pakistan in the summer and out to spin in the first three innings in Sri Lanka, for a total of 6 runs. He's clearly been working on his technique - much more front foot now - 56no in the final innings in Sri Lanka (every ball against a spinner) and 87 in this game.

Gotham's bowling early years was terrific, far better than Stokes will ever get. Stokes will turn out to be a far better batsman. Botham edges the slip fielding, Stokes shells quite a few..

One Day, I suppose England winning gives Stokes a bit more than just a nod.

[Wasn't Both an 'also ran' in 'husband of the year', time and again? Allegedly.]
