Broad I worry about. Inward looking? We know about his opinions on reviewing umpire decisions...

I know there aren't many KP fans on this thread, but I agree with Rob Steen here (and Michael Vaughan) espncricinfo.com |

Sad to say I have virtually lost interest in this tour. Sapped my spirit, worse than some of our 90's and early 00's efforts. Don't know, don;t really care when the final ODI's and T20's are. Rugby 6 Nations begins soon ![]() |

Yep reads quite well possibly true, but only the people close to the team can judge what probelms there are. I would imagine that if Cook goes as captain, KP may well be in the team. it will depend on who the next captain is. I still think he gets treated differently to the rest and therefore has a detrimental effect on the team. |

I do agree with the gower comparios, Gooch couldn't stand the fact Gower could pitch up, muck about and score a century. whereas he spent all day in the nets. Work and practice is the new way, hence we get Bresnan and coaches tinkering with Finn, and batters like Balance and Carbs who play by numbers. We shall see, but I think you need a middle way that allows people to ahve a bit for freedom, and those who work. I cans till see Compton doing a job, and James. |

I have no sympathy for KP; brilliant, brilliant player on his day, but his ego is too much of a problem. I certainly don't buy the 'he was England's best player because he got the most runs' argument. When you look at the numerous stupid ways he got out, he really should have scored many more runs. If you get a good ball, there may be nothing you can do, but repeatedly sticking dross straight up in the air is not the mark of a good player! First he fell out with Graeme Smith and South Africa; then he fell out with Notts; then he fell out with Hants; then he fell out with England; now he's fallen out with England again. There's only one common factor in all these contretemps. Live by snide innuendo, die by snide innuendo. |

KP wasn't alone in getting out in stupid ways. Most England batsmen did so repeatedly and for fewer runs. People forgive stupid outs if you have made a century beforehand though... |

Bell was quite culpable too.

But hasn't attracted anywhere near the same level of vitriol. Which seems harsh to these eyes. Cook too had a bad spell. Prior has been dire for 12 months, Anderson was down on pace and Swann retired halfway through a series. None of the newcomers bar Stokes did anything. Yet KP gets far more stick. Seems harsh to me, when he's won more games for England than almost any other player I can think of.

Doctor K
Pietersen was the top batsman in the Aussie test series. That is a problem if you want to chop him. If he was the worst it would be easy
