I would thought a bouncer that doesn't get above stump height is a deadly wicket taking ball.

If you are quick, a slightly slower bouncer is very difficult, if you are not quick, it is asking for it. I was never quick, so never bowled short on purpose, well in total desperation I might have.

I think a dead Bob Woolmer is more useful than a (mostly) not dead Keith Rupert Pont.

If you were to select from only deceased cricketers, Bob Woolmer wouldn't be top. He'd be above Peter Roebuck though, I'll grant you

My dad (dead, would be 93 if he was alive, played for Mountnessing firsts in the 1950s) would get the nod ahead of Peter Roebuck.
