Those of us (mainly me and Fifters-Etceterers I suspect) who love both baseball and cricket seem to be the keenest on avoiding crossover terminology. Although referring to the batter's box as a crease confuses the Fenway Faithful rather than infuriating them. So I do it a lot.

Talking of ladies cricket (as I was), I believe they call a box a manhole cover?

*** Quick poll alert ***

OK, so for everyone on here who played the game at any sort of level, and wasn't a complete bunny.

Slower ball bouncer

Cunning modern invention or half tracker long hop to be smashed for six?

batters does come from the ladies game - became more common when there were the occasional double-headers - women's game followed by men's - to provide consistent terminology.
Not come across manhole cover - and in general the ladies don't wear a box

Sorry complete bunny here. 3 sports I follow but accept my complete bunnyhood in terms of doing are Cricket, Rugby and Boxing.

Although to be fair I proved it for the first two, the latter I just assume....

I recall Stuart Broad bowling lots of them very successfully in the ODI's. Can only assume they worked because the batsmen were pre-meditating every shot?

Nobody was ever bamboozled by my short pitched 'bouncers', mainly because they rarely reared above stump height...

I assumed that given your "ahem" height, you would have been a skiddy bowler like Darren Gough or Waqar Younis?
