You might even ask, 'what's the Pont...'

Anyone disagree with the ranking of these four players:

1. Derek Pringle (in his pomp)
2. Bob Woolmer now
3. Derek Pringle now
4. Keith Pont (in his pomp)

I think it's a bit harsh on Del Boy.

1. Derek Pringle (in his pomp)

2. Derek Pringle now*
3. Bob Woolmer now

4. Keith Pont (in his pomp)

1,987,562,344. Peter Roebuck (in his pomp)

* for his writing

This is probably an unfair question, given that they are all exponentially more talented than me... but you lead me to ask, within your own supported county (unfair to look at others)... who was the worst player to get a run of games. I'm not talking a one off here, I'm talking at least half a season of first class games. I was going to say Harvey Trump but his first class record is half decent. Then I thought Andre van Troost but apparently he bowled the fastest spell Mark Butcher ever faced (made War look medium paced apparently, good old Wikipedia). There are a number of candidates though. Particularly at Somerset and some of the shires.

Surely Essex has a rich history of duffers along with the illuminati? (Keith Pont)

Let's all forget about our own counties and concentrate on naming Essex players form the 70's and 80's who were only slightly better than Keith Pont.

Norbert Phillips?
